## What is the AX Framework

The AX Framework helps teams design AI products people understand, trust, and control, from first intention through continuous evolution. It includes seven pillars, mindset principles, an agile collaboration model, canvases, governance checklists, and evaluation toolkits.

## The Seven Pillars

1. Human-Context, ground the AI in the real situations and people it serves.
2. Explain & Feedback, make reasoning and outputs understandable, and create channels for user response.
3. Override & Fallback, ensure people can intervene, correct, or step back from AI decisions.
4. Metrics, measure behaviour with signals like Trust Score, Override Rate, Adoption Velocity, and Time to Trust.
5. Ethics & Privacy, surface trade-offs, accountability, and data boundaries before shipping.
6. Adaptivity, design AI that evolves responsibly with context, users, and feedback.
7. Collaboration, shape how humans and AI work together across roles and teams.

Each pillar is structured into eight standardised subsections covering definition, why it matters, principles, design moves, signals, anti-patterns, artefacts, and evaluation.

AXEL stands for AI eXperience, Ethics, Limits. It is the AX Framework materialised as a governance facilitator for AI products. AXEL does not answer for you, it makes you think. Available inside the Starter Kit.
